INTENT: The NRA Range Safety Officer program was developed in response to the demand for a nationally recognized range safety officer certification. RSOs are people who possess the knowledge, skills, and attitude essential to organizing, conducting, and supervising safe shooting activities and range operations. This is done through executing the range specific standard operating procedures (SOPs), conducting range inspection, enforcing range rules, assisting in firearm stoppages and malfunctions clearing, conducting Range Safety Briefings, and communicating emergency procedures.
